|a The construction industry has been showing progressive growth over the past few years not only in terms of development of projects but also in improvement of safety measures as the bigger the projects are, the higher the risk workers will be facing in the construction site. This is true regarding workers who are completing tasks on elevated positions such as high-rise constructions as they have the risk of falling from height. The purpose for this research is to find out the influential factors of accidents due to falling from height and also identifying the most suitable ways to mitigate falls in the construction sites of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The research data was collected through survey method where the questionnaires consist of close ended questionnaires which was distributed to construction companies that performs works related to working in height. The data was analysed by applying Relative Importance Index by using Microsoft Excel after tested through a reliability test by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Software to find out whether it is feasible to be used as an instrument for the research. The result shows the ranking of the causes of falls happening as well as prevention methods. The causes were identified showing that the main issues stem from workers not using personal protective equipment properly, followed by misjudgement and carelessness of worker as well as the usage of defective equipment. For the prevention methods, it is highlighted that using personal protective equipment is the best solution to prevent these falls from happening. Other preventive methods such as providing guardrails as well as hole covers in site is also useful in preventing these falls from happening. Inspections should be done regularly in order to identify any defective equipment as well as identifying hazardous areas such as gaps to be used for the hole covers
