   <subfield code="a">This study investigated the effect of podium on the lateral behaviour of the core wall. The main objective of this study is to investigate the reduction of shear and moment of core wall against wind load due to podium. A 48 stories commercial building is selected for the studies. MIDAS GEN is used to model a 3-D model structural configuration of the high-rise buildings. Building without podium and building with 4 stories of podium is modelled to observe the results. In this study, only wind load is selected for the lateral analysis, Malaysian standard 1553 is adopted for the wind load design. From the analysis of the building without podium, core wall takes more than 90 percent of lateral shear at the bottom part of the building while the frame takes most of the shear at the top of the building. With the presence of podium, core wall at the bottom part of building takes significantly lesser lateral shear compare to building without podium, especially at tower-podium interface, the wall takes 66 percent of total lateral load. Podium reduces about 24 percent of lateral shear. With the presence of podium, the overturning moment of the building reduces, but in only a small amount</subfield>
